Posts List

The Posts page is your central hub for all content — drafts, scheduled posts, published posts, and any that failed to publish. Use filters and search to find exactly what you need.

  • Filter by status (Draft, Scheduled, Published, Failed).
  • Filter by social account or platform.
  • Search by caption text.
  • Sort by newest, oldest, or scheduled date.

Status Lifecycle

Every post moves through a series of statuses from creation to publication.

A post published to multiple platforms can be partially successful — for example, published to Instagram but failed on LinkedIn. Each platform result is shown individually on the post detail page.

Post Detail Page

Click any post in the list to open its detail page. Here you can see:

  • The original caption and attached media.
  • Which platforms it was targeting and their individual publish status.
  • A per-platform metrics summary (reach, likes, comments, shares).
  • The full comment inbox for the post across all platforms.
  • The publish timestamp and any error messages for failed platforms.

Post Metrics

Octapost pulls performance data from each platform's API at regular intervals after publishing. Metrics are updated approximately every 6 hours.

Metrics availability depends on each platform's API. Some metrics (e.g. LinkedIn impressions) require your account to have a minimum number of followers or post interactions.

Comment Management

The Inbox page aggregates comments and mentions from all connected platforms into a single feed. You can reply directly from within Octapost — no need to switch between platform apps.

  • New comments appear in real-time (polling every 5 minutes).
  • Filter the inbox by platform, account, or read/unread status.
  • Click a comment thread to expand the conversation and type a reply.
  • Replies are sent immediately via the platform API — no scheduling for replies.
  • Mark comments as done to clear them from your active inbox.
Responding to comments within the first hour of publishing significantly boosts organic reach on Instagram and LinkedIn.

Failed Posts

If a post fails to publish on one or more platforms, it appears in the Posts list with a Failed badge. Common reasons include:

  • Expired or revoked access token — reconnect the account and retry.
  • Invalid media format — the file doesn't meet the platform's requirements.
  • Caption violates platform content policy.
  • Rate limit exceeded — too many posts to the same account in a short window.

Open the failed post

Click the post to see the error message returned by the platform.

Fix the root cause

Reconnect the account, update the media, or adjust the caption as needed.

Click Retry

Use the Retry button to attempt publishing again without creating a new post.
